jamaica :: day six

breakfast with the team, juicy mango, a text on the ipod, loading up in team julio van, greeting children as they arrive, the sis and i teaching a 25+ children class, playing hand slapping games in church backyard, putting together craft and little girls in my class saying, "this is the best day ever!", playing UNO at the hotel and getting illuminated, flying up from seats on team jeremy over the bump, sitting with little girls and boy and sharing paper and pens, the jamaican song leader thinking mom was daddy's daughter, two baptisms, riding in team daddy and bringing people home, a skype date in the hallway with my man, crowding in the middle of the bed to get internet connection, the trail of ants coming from the dead roach.

it was a blessing to be able to teach these precious children crammed in a classroom with no air condition.

mom reviewing the Bible story with all the children.

this girl knew how to use a broom! it was unbelievable. she was maybe 5 years old.

this young lady, abi, was baptized into Christ. <3

in the middle of my little mess, i'm blessed.

the day was yesterday.

i slipped my new dress over my head and snapped my yellow necklace. my yellow earrings added the perfect touch.

putting the finishing touches to my makeup and hair, i softly sung to walt disney's tarzan pandora station.

i tip-toed downstairs knowing that the sis was catching some extra snoozes.

i could feel it. it was going to be a good day.

telling mom goodbye, i was off.

it was a day spent in the workplace at my job at the university.

the day was filled with busy work running all over the building delivering paper to certain individuals.

i smiled to myself knowing that this was my life and how much i loved my life.

i was giddy thinking about what the future might hold.

   words to live by
                                                                         //Source via Pinterest//

some days, we may be tempted to look at all the negative things in life.

certain decisions that national leaders may make.
prayer being looked down upon in the schools.
poverty in the world.
crimes in the cities.
families who are being broken.

these are all sickening to think about.

and to think of where our nation is heading--farther and farther away from God--is even more saddening.

but,

we have a God that is much bigger than all the messy little things in life.

when we pour our hearts out to Him and let him know our pleas, He is willing to hear our cries.

so, next time i or you think of all the messes in life, just think about how we are truly blessed.

blessed to have a God that is on our side when we're faithful to Him.
blessed to have a new dress to wear.
blessed to have a SUV to get into and drive to work.
blessed to have older men and women as mentors and those we can look up to.
blessed to have the ability to go running at night time with fireflies all around.
blessed with these last few weeks hanging out with the sis, laying on her bed in the dark, trying to find the perfect bridesmaid shoe on the internet.
blessed with family and friends that love.

yes,
we are big and blessed.

jamaica :: day five

the second day of vacation Bible school, an apologetics press children's book read by the sister, flip flop sun-catchers, a larger group of children, playing outside, selfie pictures, a snack line, going back to hotel for rest, gathering back at the church for gospel meeting, jamaican choruses, the distractment of a little boy getting stung by a bee during church, van rides to bring people home, arriving back at the hotel and preparing for the next busy day.

who needs barriers when you have a tree and a tire to block the entrance?

jamaica :: day four

the first day of vacation Bible school, an unadvertised vbs, 40-something kids from the church there at highgate, races to see who could cut the most cotton balls in half to use for tic-tac-toe (sister won against carl...go sis!! ;D), sister rose cutting cabbage for "salad", hand clapping games with a photo bomb by johnny, songs led by mr. jeremy and bible story told by daddy, sis and i teaching the 7-9-year-olds and taking them to their different stations (bible review, craft, bible trivia, and then outside to run off some energy before coming back in for a final song and prayer), learning new jamaican yard games and playing them with the kids, a van full of juice bags...A LOT of juice bags, leaving the church to go back to the motel in the afternoon to rest, freshening up and eating dinner, leaving to go back to the church for the gospel meeting, being surrounded by gorgeous little girls, winding up the amazing day and looking forward to a new one.

jamaica :: day three

morning devo on the porch overlooking the Caribbean, leftover wedding decor from the Jamaican wedding the night before, breakfast of eggs, toast, bacon and festival bread, not a great mart--just an ok mart ;P, brother myers--the american preacher from the states, making new friends and being reunited with old, passing out pens and paper for the kids to take notes on write notes to each other during the sermon. oops :/, a stop at the buccaneers jerk shack for lunch, a sunday afternoon nap, returning to church with fellow Christians and the host of flying bugs.
