The other day, the sis and I were in Wally World in the check out line. There were two ladies in front of us who were carrying on a conversation with the cashier woman. One of the ladies paid and left while the other one was loading her groceries into her buggy. She and the cashier continued the conversation.
It went something like this...
Customer: "I'm still trying to get over it...."
Cashier: "Yeah, after I had my baby, I was ready to go back to work." "Some people say that they want to stay at home after they had a baby, but I told my mom that I was ready to go back at work at Wal-Mart." "I enjoy seeing all the different people and when I was at home, I was stuck in between 4 walls with a baby!" (she said it as if it was the worst thing that could have happened to her.)
Customer: "Ummmhmmm! Yeah!"
The customer was agreeing to every word the cashier woman had to say! I almost started crying! Why, especially a woman, not want to stay at home with a precious blessing that the Lord had given her, a baby?
For the past month, I have heard more negative things said about children and having children than are necessary. My view of it: Children are a blessing, not a curse. And, when I get married, I would love to be able to give that part of my life over to God and see what He will do with it. =)
What are your thoughts on the matter?

Amen... That is so sad. My husband and I were not planning to have children right after we got married on May 28...but here it is Nov. 18 and I am 26 weeks along. So we DID end up having kids even though we didn't "plan" on it... (We didn't "plan" on not having kids either.) But the point is, yes, our plans got changed up a bit -- but neither of us are sad about it and I am so excited to close up my work on my master's program and work as a Teacher's Assistant at the university. I can't imagine NOT seeing kids as a blessing no matter what the circumstance. So sad. :(
That conversation definitely would've made me almost cry too! It's so sad to see how people view children...they're such a blessing!

AAh Thank you for this!! We are trying to have babies any day now (have been for a while) and I can't wait! I know it will be hard but SO worth it!! Love your blog. Following now!
May the Lord give us all boldness to speak TRUTH to the world...children ARE a blessing. They ARE His gifts to us to love, nuture and train to love and admonish their Creator.
That is a huge responsibility and there are difficult days in mothering because WE ARE falible creatures...HOWEVER, the blessing far outways anything this world could offer.
My desire is to be the best mother I can, relying on the Lord to equip me through His word to do so...and holding on to His daily grace and tender mercies. =) May my children, because of the work He does in their hearts and out of the training they recieve {by God's grace and equipping}, become straight arrows used to further His kingdom.
Perspective...
That the lightbearers {His children} would shine brightly in this world of darkness...living according to His word and being a witness for Him...and through the sharing of TRUTH He would open their eyes to see the beauty of motherhood...

i 100% totally agree with you with every fiber in my being! Children are great blessings and I am so sad that popular culture portrays children as burdensome.Children are one of the greatest gifts God will ever give to us :)
